About The British University in Dubai
The British University in Dubai (BUiD) was established in 2003 under Law No. 5 by the late Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, as the UAE's first research-oriented university. It was founded through a partnership between the Al Maktoum Foundation, Dubai Holding, Rolls-Royce, the British Business Group, and Emirates NBD, with a mission to bring British research-led higher education to the region.
Operating from Dubai International Academic City, BUiD offers undergraduate programmes in computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering, architecture, finance, and business — including the first BSc in Artificial Intelligence in the UAE — alongside full- and part-time Master's, MBA, Postgraduate Diploma, and Doctorate/PhD programmes across education, business, law, engineering, and construction. Master's classes are scheduled in evenings and weekends to accommodate working professionals.
BUiD holds formal academic alliances with three UK Russell Group universities — the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, and the University of Glasgow — and is dual-accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education and the UK Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), with qualifications also recognised by UK NARIC.
