About Umm Al Quwain University
Umm Al Quwain University (UAQU) was established in 2012 as the first university in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, formed by elevating the earlier Emirates Canadian University College to full university status. The university is sponsored and directed by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, and is located on Al Mualla Street in Umm Al Quwain City.
UAQU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through its College of Business Administration, College of Arts and Science, College of Mass Communication, and College of Law, with a College of Computer Science approved to launch Bachelor of Science programmes in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence and Smart Systems from the 2026/2027 academic year. All programmes are accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation, and the university's qualifications are automatically recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
UAQU has secured a growing list of international recognitions, including AQAS accreditation for its College of Mass Communication, membership of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) for its College of Law, and official recognition from the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia.
