About this experience
Dubai Safari Park is a large municipal wildlife park in Al Warqa, split into an African village, an Asian village, an Arabian desert safari zone and an explorer village, with both walk-through areas and a bus-based safari journey through open enclosures.
It is genuinely large — 119 hectares — and people routinely underestimate it, arriving mid-afternoon and running out of time. Allow most of a day. The safari journey is the part worth prioritising if you are short on time.
The important caveat is the same as Miracle Garden: the park is seasonal and closes through the hottest months, typically reopening around October and running to May. Confirm current dates before booking anything around it. Even in season, arrive early — animals are far more active in the first hours after opening and much of the park is unshaded.
Highlights
- Separate African, Asian, Arabian and explorer zones
- Bus-based safari journey through open enclosures
- Walk-through sections with feeding and keeper talks
- Purpose-built modern facilities, unlike the old Dubai Zoo it replaced
Know before you go
- Seasonal — typically closed through the summer. Confirm current opening dates before booking
- Allow 4–5 hours; a two-hour visit will not cover it
- Go at opening — animals are most active early and the park gets hot fast
- Much of the site is unshaded; bring hats and water
- Check whether your ticket includes the safari journey or charges it separately
