About Abu Dhabi University
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) traces its origins to the Charter of Abu Dhabi University, developed in 2000 under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Founded by Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, the university opened its doors in September 2003 to an inaugural class of 1,000 students across campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and has since grown into the largest private university in the UAE.
ADU's main campus is located in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, with satellite campuses in Al Ain and in Dubai Knowledge Park, opened in 2017. The university is organised into five colleges — Arts, Education and Social Sciences; Business; Engineering; Law; and Health Sciences — offering more than 65 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programmes to over 10,000 students from more than 100 nationalities. Its College of Engineering is the largest in the UAE and hosts the only RIBA-validated architecture programme in Abu Dhabi.
ADU's College of Business holds dual AACSB and EQUIS accreditation, a distinction held by only around 2% of business schools worldwide. In the Times Higher Education Rankings, ADU has held the number one position in the UAE for teaching quality and placed among the top 250 universities globally, while also ranking first in the UAE for graduate employability across several recent survey cycles.
