Dubai College was founded on 4 May 1978 under an Emiri decree from the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, who reportedly gave the simple instruction: "Build us a school, here." The school began in two small villas near Safa Park with just five teachers and twenty-two pupils, later moving to its current campus in Al Sufouh, and today stands as one of the oldest British curriculum schools in the UAE.
