About Zayed University
Zayed University was founded in 1998 as a federal institution to provide higher education to Emirati women, and is named in honour of the nation's founding President, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The university opened its admissions to male students in 2008, beginning with a dedicated Sweihan campus established in partnership with the UAE Armed Forces, and has since grown into one of the UAE's leading federal universities.
Zayed University operates two modern campuses, in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi, and in Dubai's Academic City, each offering the same accredited academic programmes across eight colleges: Arts and Creative Enterprises, Business, Communication and Media Sciences, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural and Health Sciences, Technological Innovation, and Interdisciplinary Studies. The university offers 17 undergraduate majors, 10 minors, and 10 master's degrees to a student body of more than 10,000.
In 2008, Zayed University became the first federal university in the UAE to receive international accreditation, from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the United States, a status it has since renewed through the 2030/2031 academic year. Its College of Business also holds AACSB accreditation, and the university runs an Undergraduate Research Scholars Program that mentors students through original, publishable research over a two-and-a-half-year track.
