About Ajman University
Ajman University (AU) was founded in 1988 as Ajman University College of Science and Technology (AUCST), becoming the first private university in the UAE and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council region. It was renamed Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) in 1997 following Ministry Decree No. 54, which granted it full university status, and adopted its current name, Ajman University, in 2018 to reflect its comprehensive, multidisciplinary scope.
AU's main campus is located on University Street in the Jarf district of Ajman, with an additional campus supporting Fujairah University of Science and Technology, and the university now offers 46 accredited programmes across nine colleges — including the newly established College of Medicine, alongside Dentistry, Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Engineering and IT, Business, Law, Humanities and Sciences, and Architecture, Art and Design. AU was the first university in the UAE to admit expatriate students of both genders.
AU was among the first six institutions worldwide to receive accreditation from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), and is the first private, non-profit university in the Arab region accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) in the United States. It is consistently ranked among the top five universities in the UAE by QS World University Rankings, with more than 40,000 alumni across its 38-year history.
