About this experience
The QE2 crossed the Atlantic more than 800 times before retiring to Dubai, where she is now permanently berthed at Port Rashid as a floating hotel. The heritage tour covers the original public rooms, the bridge, and the exhibition on her service history — including the Falklands, when she carried troops south.
The ship has been kept substantially original rather than gutted and rebuilt, which is the point. The Queens Room, the wood panelling and the period fittings are as they were, and afternoon tea is served in the original setting.
It is an unusual thing to find in Dubai and it appeals particularly to anyone with an interest in ocean liners or twentieth-century British history. Port Rashid is close to the old town, so it combines with Al Fahidi and the souks.
