The two things that actually matter in a UAE retail till are less exciting than the feature lists suggest: does it keep working when the internet drops, and do your shop floor and stockroom agree on what you have.
What a UAE shop needs
- Offline mode — mall connections drop, and a till that stops is a till losing sales.
- Real-time stock deduction — across branches, not just the one you are standing in.
- VAT-compliant receipts — with your TRN and correct tax breakdown.
- Standard hardware support — barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers.
The options
Zoho POS covers the till itself — sales, returns, and receipts — and is built to run against Zoho Inventory so a sale deducts stock immediately rather than at end of day.
Pair it with Zoho Books and takings post to the ledger without anyone re-keying a daily total, which is where most of the manual work in a small shop actually sits.
If you also sell online, Zoho Commerce shares the same stock pool, so the website cannot sell something the shop already sold.

Before you buy
- Test offline mode by pulling the network mid-sale. Vendors describe this differently and some only cache partially.
- Check your specific printer and scanner models rather than assuming general compatibility.
- Ask how refunds and exchanges post to the ledger — this is where cheap systems get messy.
On VAT
Receipt formatting requirements for VAT-registered businesses should be confirmed with your accountant or the FTA. A vendor claiming to be compliant is not the same as your specific setup being compliant.
