The choice between Dubai Creek and Dubai Marina shapes the whole evening more than most people expect. Creek cruises sail past the historic trading quarter and souks on a traditional wooden dhow, calmer water and a more cultural atmosphere. Marina cruises pass the modern skyline \u2014 towers, Ain Dubai, the glittering waterfront \u2014 with a livelier, more contemporary feel. Neither is objectively better; it comes down to which side of Dubai you'd rather see from the water.

Every dhow has two levels worth knowing about: an open-air upper deck with the best photos and breeze, and an air-conditioned lower deck where the buffet dinner is served. Sightseeing-only cruises tend to run about an hour, while dinner cruises run 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on route and operator. Expect a buffet mixing Arabic and international dishes, unlimited soft drinks, and live entertainment \u2014 a tanoura (spinning) dancer is the most common act, sometimes paired with belly dance.

Bring a light layer regardless of how warm the day felt \u2014 open-deck evenings cool down more than first-timers expect, especially once the boat picks up speed on the water.
