How often do UAE fuel prices change?
Prices are reviewed and announced once a month and then hold for the whole of that month. This has been the arrangement since fuel prices were deregulated, replacing the fixed national price that applied before.
Are petrol prices the same across all seven emirates?
The announced price applies nationally, so the pump price for a given grade is the same whether you fill up in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Fujairah. What differs between stations is the services offered, not the fuel price.
What is the difference between Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus 91?
The number is the octane rating. Higher octane resists pre-ignition better under compression, which matters for high-performance and turbocharged engines. Most cars run correctly on the grade named in the owner manual, and using a higher grade than specified does not improve performance.
Why is diesel priced differently from petrol?
Diesel is priced separately because it follows a different refining and international pricing pattern, and demand is driven largely by commercial transport rather than private cars. It is common for diesel to move in a different direction from petrol in the same month.
How much does a full tank cost?
Multiply the per-litre price for your grade by your tank capacity. A 50-litre tank at 3.00 AED per litre costs 150 AED to fill from empty. Most drivers refill before empty, so the practical figure is lower.
