Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism offers an Instant License option designed to compress the standard mainland licensing timeline from what can be several days or weeks down to a matter of hours for eligible activities, by removing the requirement for an office lease at the point of initial licensing.

Under this option, a business can obtain its trade license without first securing and registering a physical office tenancy, since the requirement to provide an Ejari-registered lease is deferred rather than eliminated entirely. This particularly suits entrepreneurs and consultants who want to start invoicing and operating quickly and can arrange their office space, whether a flexi-desk, virtual office, or dedicated unit, shortly after the license is issued rather than before.

Eligibility is generally limited to specific commercial and professional activities that DET has classified as suitable for this fast-track route; activities requiring an external approval from another government body, such as those needing Civil Defence sign-off, food safety approval, or Ministry of Health clearance, typically don't qualify for the instant option and still need to follow the standard licensing sequence including site-specific approvals.

Even with an Instant License, the business is still required to secure a valid Ejari-registered tenancy within a set window after issuance, generally to support subsequent needs like visa applications and license renewal, so the option speeds up the initial launch rather than removing the office requirement altogether. Because eligible activities and the exact window for finalizing a lease are periodically reviewed by DET, confirming current eligibility for a specific activity before applying, ideally directly through the DET portal or a PRO service, helps avoid assuming instant eligibility that doesn't actually apply to the intended business activity.
