UAE Visa for Australian Citizens: 2026 Entry Guide

Published 28 Jul 2026 · 2 min read

Australian passport holders are among the more than 50 nationalities that receive a free 30-day visa on arrival in the UAE, meaning no advance application through ICP, GDRFA, or an eVisa portal is required for a standard tourist or business visit, only a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

Once in the UAE, this visa-on-arrival stamp can generally be extended once for an additional 30 days through the standard online extension channels, provided the extension request is submitted before the original visa actually expires rather than afterward, since visit visas generally carry little to no grace period once they lapse. Some Australian travelers, particularly frequent visitors, may also be issued a longer multiple-entry visa-on-arrival in certain cases, allowing repeated entries over a longer window without reapplying before every individual trip, though the standard single 30-day stamp remains the default most travelers receive.

For Australians planning to live and work in the UAE rather than visit, the visa-on-arrival route does not translate into any residency or work authorization; a separate application is required depending on the specific pathway, employer-sponsored employment visa, an investor or Golden Visa route, or one of the self-sponsored categories like the Green Visa, each with its own eligibility criteria and documentation separate from the tourist entry process entirely.

Because eligibility lists, extension rules, and fee schedules for visa-on-arrival travelers have been updated more than once in recent years, and because immigration rules can differ slightly depending on which emirate a traveler enters through, Australian citizens should confirm current requirements directly through ICP or their airline close to their actual travel date rather than assuming older information still applies.
