The American School of Dubai (ASD) was established in 1966, prior to the founding of the United Arab Emirates itself, and was previously known as the Jumeirah American School. Today ASD is an independent, not-for-profit, U.S.-curriculum school serving Early Learning through Grade 12, and has grown into one of the region's most established international schools with an alumni community spanning generations and continents.
ASD serves around 2,065 students representing more than 87 nationalities, taught by a faculty of roughly 300 recruited from around the world. In August 2010 the school moved into its purpose-built, 23-acre, million-square-foot campus in Al Barsha South, offering a U.S. standards-based curriculum spanning English/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Arabic, French, Spanish, physical education, music, and art, alongside a full Advanced Placement (AP) programme for high schoolers.
ASD has been recognised for sustainability leadership, winning the Zayed Sustainability Prize Global High School Award in 2019, and has been named among Knowledge Review Magazine's 10 Best International Schools in Dubai and SchoolsCompared.com's Best American Curriculum School of the Year.
