About Emirates College for Advanced Education
Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) was established in 2007 under the decree of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, commencing its first undergraduate intake in September 2007 and its first postgraduate intake that October. ECAE is a specialist teacher-training college, funded by the Abu Dhabi government and affiliated with the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), created to serve as a teacher preparation, educational research, and school development centre for the UAE.
The college offers a Bachelor's degree programme known for extensive practicum and mentoring components, alongside a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a two-year Master of Education (M.Ed) programme aligned with the UAE Qualifications Framework. Instruction is delivered in English, and ECAE's mission centres on preparing transformational teachers and educational leaders to advance school education across the UAE and the wider region.
In March 2021, ECAE and all of its academic programmes received international accreditation from Germany's Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA), followed by accreditation from the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) that July. ECAE supports the UAE Government's Vision 2030 and Centennial 2071 by building a pipeline of qualified national educators for schools across Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE.
